This policy will tell you what we’re doing with your personal information (the stuff we have access to).
What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our website? We’re only going to ask you what we need to. If you want to get Bossy Skirt updates, we’re going to need your email. If you want us to mail you something, we’re going to need your address. You get it.
When do we collect information? When you give us information.
How do we use your information? If you check out the site or respond to us in anyway (feel free to email us or say hi on social!), we’re going to use that information. How?
· To send you our emails/newsletters
· To make our content more awesome
· To say hi back.
How do we protect your information? We’re super careful with your info. Reallycareful. We use lots of fancy, quality tech stuff to keep it safe, and we don’t let anyone see it. Well, except a few people on our team with special rights who need it to do their job. And they’re sworn to secrecy. If someone emails you asking for your credit info, SS#, or tells you thatyou just won the lottery, it’s not us. Don’t answer that email.
Do we use 'cookies'? We LOVE cookies. We are very pro-cookie. But we also use the computer ones to make your Bossy Skirt experience better. Cookies (the computer kind) give us big picture information on how people use our site (e.g. what they like and don’t like), they also store things you’ve put in your shopping cart (if we ever add a shopping cart), and remember your preferences so you can experience Bossy Skirt your way. All those things are pretty great, but you’re welcome to disable cookies in your browser.
If users disable cookies in their browser: The site might not work as well and your experience may be sub-awesome.
Third-party disclosure: We don’t sell, trade, barter, or write on a sticky note any of your personal information. Period. It’s locked down.
Google: We use Google AdSense. You know Google is their own thing (because we just talked about that in that last paragraph) here are their policies:
· Remarketing with Google AdSense
· Google Display Network Impression Reporting
Still not a fan of the cookies? You can go to the Network Advertising Initiative Opt Out page (catchy title, eh?) or get the Google Analytics Opt Out browser add-on.
California Online Privacy Protection Act: California made a law (CalOPPA) that requires us to clearly tell you what we’re collecting and who we’re sharing it with here are more deets: http://consumercal.org/california-online-privacy-protection-act-caloppa/#sthash.0FdRbT51.dpuf
According to CalOPPA, we agree to the following:
You can visit our site anonymously.
We’ll clearly label our policy and put it somewhere you can find it.
Email us if you need to change your personal information.
How does our site handle Do Not Track signals? If you have something that tells our site “DON’T TRACK ME,” we won’t.
Does our site allow third-party behavioral tracking? Yep.
COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act): Per COPPA (different from CalOPPA), if you’re under 13, you need a parent to sign up. We’re not trying to reach anyone under 13. If you’re under 13, we love the initiative! But please come back and see us in a few years.
Fair Information Practices: FIPPs (because we haven’t had enough acronyms) is the backbone of U.S. privacy law. You should probably Google it.
If someone hacks or otherwise gets at your info: We’ll tell you within 7 days. We agree to the Individual Redress Principle (basically, whatever sh*tstorm follows the above).
CAN SPAM Act: The CAN-SPAM isn’t super salty meat in a tin. It’s the act that says we can’t send you junk email. We’ll use your email for:
· Sending/replying to information, request, other asks
· Send you info we think you might need (related to Bossy)
· Stay in touch, tell you about other things going.
We agree to these CAN-SPAM conditions:
· We won’t try to trick you with subject lines/email addresses
· We’ll reasonably identify an advertisement
· We’ll provide a physical address for our HQ
· Make sure any mail service we use is towing the line
· Be super-fast at processing your opt-out/unsubscribe requests
· Give you an unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails
That link at the bottom will always be there in case you want to break up with us.
